Marina information
Gibraltar is a special economic zone with low prices for fuel and repairs. Gibraltar (G.B.): 36°08' N.L. - 05°21'W.L.
Gibraltar has high temperatures during the summer, with cooler weather and intermittent rain between October and Christmas. As the gateway to the Mediterranean Sea, Gibraltar occupies a strategic and historic location. The steep cliffs (426m) are a world-famous landmark. The island has been a British colony since 1704. The most populous city and harbour are situated at the western end of the peninsula of Gibraltar.
Although rocky, Gibraltar is full or surprises at any time of year. Highlights include a wide variety of plant life, the Rock Apes, dolphins in the Bay of Gibraltar and other marine mammals such as the Pilot Whales of the Strait. Gibraltar even has its own unique bird: the Barbary Partridge. In spring, the time when many birds breed, Gibraltar is a genuine paradise for wildlife.
Taking the "Official Rock Tour" by taxi or by coach is the best way to visit some of Gibraltar's most interesting sites (lasts approximately 90 minutes). Alternatively, visit the Upper Rock Nature Reserve on the Cable Car which leaves from the Alameda Grand Parade.
The following sites are well worth a visit:
Alameda Botanical Gardens
City Gates and Fortifications
Catalan Bay
